VIRGINIA PRIORITIES
DAV Chapter 10 actively advocates for state-level policies that directly impact veterans in Virginia. Our focus includes improving access to healthcare, increasing support for disabled veterans, enhancing educational and employment opportunities, and ensuring that veterans and their families receive the benefits they deserve. We work closely with state legislators to push for changes that improve the lives of veterans throughout Virginia.
Advocating for Veterans' Rights
Chapter 10 is engaged in the legislative process within the Commonwealth. Each year we provide resolutions pertaining to veterans issues within Virginia. A Chapter 10 resolution that proposed to provide vehicle property tax exemption for veterans rated as 100 percent disabled by the VA was accepted by the Joint Leadership Council of Veterans Service Organizations. It was introduced and passed by the legislature in 2019 and in 2020. It was on the Virginia ballot in November 2020 and passed by 85% of Virginians voting yes.
